Cancer Care Community Group

The Cancer Care Community Group at St. Mark’s is a program that helps people with cancer and their loved ones understand cancer, how to manage their lives, and how to get the emotional support they need.

Cancer is a unique experience for each individual and all of those involved. No two people will travel the same journey during and after cancer. How people cope after being diagnosed, during, and after treatment is also different for each individual. One common thread in all afflicted by cancer is the need for a good support system.

Cancer support groups provide a setting in which cancer patients, family members, and caregivers can talk with others about their experiences with cancer.

The Cancer Care Community Group at St. Mark’s helps people feel less isolated and less distressed. More importantly, Cancer Care Community Group offers education for understanding the cancer process, working out the logistics, understanding hospice, dealing with important insurance issues, etc., We share research information, we make hospital visits including those who have no family and/or support network, and we always encourage exercise and laughter for mental and physical health.

The next series of Cancer Care will begin Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at 6:30pm.  For additional information call Frances Gonzalez at 581-4444 or email her at ccm@loveroad.org.
